I have two young children and while I have a double stroller that I take when I know we are going somewhere we need it, I needed something for those spontaneous side trips where we didn’t want to chase two young children around. The umbrella stroller allows me to do that. I can take my children out for walks with the youngest in the stroller and the older one ’steering’. When we do make those sidetrips, it’s a lot easier to have one less child running around.
I didn’t really pick my Kolcraft over any other. I already had one umbrella stroller already, but when I went to Wal-Mart one day and saw two Kolcraft umbrella stroller’s clearanced out for $2 I couldn’t resist. I asked to make sure nothing was wrong. The only reason they were clearanced was because they were getting in a new design and they wanted to get rid of the old one fast. I bought both strollers and gave one to my friend who just had her baby.
I believe the other umbrella stroller I have is a Graco and I actually like the Kolcraft better. The clip to hold it together when closed is much sturdier than the one on the Graco. The belt buckle is a lot smaller and, to me, easier to fasten because it isn’t so big. I have small hands and sometimes it would take both hands on the Graco to unbuckle it. The belt is also easier to adjust. The other added bonus is that my Graco takes a couple kicks to get folded. I don’t exactly understand why since it should only take on kick. My Kolcraft only takes one and I don’t even have to bend over to close it up.
For me, $2 was a wonderful buy on the Kolcraft umbrella stroller. I believe the original price was $15. I do wish that Wal-Mart sold the umbrellas that go with them. I’ve been seriously considering replacing my Graco in the car with the Kolcraft, but have been using the Kolcraft more at home lately for walks. I really like my Kolcraft and would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a lightweight umbrella stroller.
